Here are some key points to consider when purchasing a handgun.

 1. What is your main reason for the purchase?  

  • Home defense
  • Concealed carry
  • Target practice
  • Hunting 

2. What type of handgun?

  • Semi auto
  • Revolver

3. What type of trigger action is best for you?

  • Double action
  • Single action
  • Double action only
  • Internal firing pin system

2.  Does the handgun fit your hand?

3. What caliber is best for you?

4. If you are going to carry it.    How will you do it?

5. What type of concealed carry gear will you use?

6. Can you operate the handgun safely?

7.  Will you be able to afford to shoot it enough to stay current?

  1. Dependability -  before selecting a handgun be sure to understand your own needs and limitations so when you select a handgun it meets your needs. Be sure the handgun is dependable and good quality.

  1. Concealment - the firearm must be concealed (out-of-sight and unnoticeable under clothing) in order to carry it legally.  Considerations are: Light weight handgun with smooth contours and easy to use. Shrouded or internal hammer with a recessed rear sight and double action trigger.
  2. Availability - easy accessibility to the holster or other type of carry device
  3. Secure - proper concealment in a holster or other carry conceal device that secures your handgun and keeps it safe from accidental discharge.
  4. Shooting Skill - you must be able to operate the firearm, understand its function, and manage the recoil.
