Why is there a student support web site? To support the training programs presented our company.
Example: Regarding the CPL training class and firearms training in general
There are a few things that become clear after completing a CPL class.
1. We realize that for most people carrying and using firearms for self defense this is a part time endeavor.
That could lead to not being prepared tactically and legally.
2. There was a relatively short amount of time to deal with a large amount of subject matter.
3. You are at the beginning of your training not the end.
4. Laws may be enacted that you have no knowledge of and may not know how to use.
5. The reality is at the end of the training day you have not completed any "reality based training" regarding the wearing and using a concealed handgun to defend yourself under life treating conditions. .
Michigan CCW renewal process: Are you legally up to date? Have you practiced your shooting and self defense skills?
The CPL is valid for 5 years. During that time you are not required take any additional training. Legal, practical, or basic shooting skills.
Then, after 5 years recurrent training is minimal at best.- The training for the renewal process you are only required to --
1. Completed at least (3) three hours of review of the required training since receiving his/her license and ----
2. Have had at least (1) one hour firing range time in the 6 months immediately preceding the renewal application.
Think about this when you consider how important it is to keep yourself current.
You are held liable for all current and future laws, and--- from a practical stand point could you defend yourself or a loved one if required to do so?
You are not sent legal updates by the state of Michigan or your county. You need to know if and when laws are issued and how they might impact your CPL legal liability. That is where the StudentSupport Program is the answer to supporting your legal, practical and tactical training needs.
You are held responsible for knowing all the current laws and acting accordingly. Depending on when your permit is do to expire there could have been laws enacted during the time your permit has been in force that you may not know until you renew. That means you may have been carrying a handgun under the Michigan CPL laws and not know what the current laws are. You really should be updating yourself when a new law takes effect not after it does. But that is how the systems works. 5 years may go by and you find out what you might have been missing. So in reality you might be finding out after the fact, not as it occurs. Yet you still are liable. Therefore it is important to know what the current laws are, how to use them and how to update yourself in the future.
