Consider the facts when renewing you CPL license------ CPL renewal training contains 3 parts.
Your license is valid for 5 years During that time there is no state "required" training. But --The results of a confrontation will depend on ---- (1) Your knowledge of the laws (2) self defense tactics (3) Your able to make a reasonable self defense decision 4 Will your actions present a hazard to others?
Did you know that during the five years--- You are required to know all current and future laws at the time they are enacted. When you apply for
your license you are not placed on a automatic legal "update" list. You are on your own when it comes to accessing the current and correct information.
Most of the time when people renew their license they are learning about laws that have been enacted during the time of their license. (after the fact)

3. The range time can be done without an instructor present. Caution: 4. When you sign the application saying you have taken “required training”, that basically means that you have received some type of training on the current “firearms laws and legal liability” and that you are taking liability for knowing the laws and acting accordingly.
You will also be asked if you have had at least one hour of range time within the preceding 6 months. The answer is “yes” only if you truly have.
Remember that it is a felony to (with intent) give an incorrect answer on the application from. If you have any questions please ask before signing and submitting.
While “official classroom training with an instructor” is not mandated by most counties it is highly recommended. You should be able to document that------- 1. You have taken training 2. You are up to date regarding all new and pertinent laws 3. You have demonstrated handgun shooting proficiency
The Advantage of Official Training 1. Training recognized in a court of law 2. Face to face or on line there is an instructor available to answer your questions. 2. Considering the fact that using a handgun in self-defense requires knowledge, skill and training, it just makes sense to maintain your proficiency regarding firearms laws and shooting skills.
