Here are some key points
to consider when purchasing a handgun.
1.
What is your main reason for the purchase?
2. What type of
handgun?
3. What type of trigger
action is best for you?
4. Does the
handgun fit your hand?
5. What caliber is best
for you?
6. If you are going to
carry it.
How
will you do it?
8. What type of
concealed carry gear will you use?
9. Can you operate the
handgun safely?
10. Will you be able to afford to shoot it enough to stay current?
Hint---- a 9 mm is the
least expensive of all center fire ammunition.
Goal: Access a secure, concealed handgun and fire accurate shots that stop the attacker.
This requires the selection of the proper concealed carry device with:
Knock down power: The firearm must have adequate power to stop an assailant from carrying out an attack against you. ( It is the size of the bullet, the type of bullet, the placement of the bullet, and penetrating depth)
Select a firearm you are comfortable with, fits your hand size and clearly understand how it functions.
Safe practice with your equipment
Know your limitations !!
The important items are:
Dependability - before selecting a handgun be sure to understand your own needs and limitations so when you select a handgun it meets your needs. Be sure the handgun is dependable and good quality.
What is the most dependable handgun for you for you ?
Revolver or Semi Auto ( the one you can bet your life on).
Recommended Semi-Auto
- Double Action Only
- Double Action with a de-cocker (with or without a manual safety)
Concealment - the firearm must be concealed (out-of-sight and unnoticeable under clothing) in order to carry it legally. Considerations are: Light weight handgun with smooth contours and easy to use. Shrouded or internal hammer with a recessed rear sight and double action trigger.
Availability - easy accessibility to the holster or other type of carry device
Secure - proper concealment in a holster or other carry conceal device that secures your handgun and keeps it safe from accidental discharge.
Shooting Skill - you must be able to operate the firearm, understand its function, and manage the recoil.
