"Possession of another persons handgun"

House Bill 4642, allows an individual "licensed to carry a concealed firearm" to legally carry, possess, use, or transport a firearm "belonging to another individual" as long as the individual's firearm is properly licensed and inspected under this act. This new law goes into effect until July 1, 2006.

Allows others to use the same handgun

Family members can own different handguns

Less expensive then purchasing another handgun

Special "group and Family" discount rate price structure

2 persons  $ 140.00 each

3- 5 persons  from same group  $ 135.00 each

6 persons or more $ 130.00

Consider this:  A person can be held criminally and civilly liable for wrongfully pointing or discharging a pistol at another person.  This could result in trauma to yourself and your family, the loss of freedom, loss of employment and related wages and health benefits, and future wages and employment.  There is always the possibility of prosecution and/or a wrongful death lawsuit.

Having a handgun for self defense is the same as a pilot having a parachute or ejection seat.

You may never need it, but if you do things have really gone bad for you to have to use it.

It is only necessary in an emergency, when your life is at stake, and you had better know how to operate it and it cannot fail.

Firearms Training and legal liability:    Is it Right for You?

The owing, carrying and possibly using a firearm for self defense carries with it considerable legal, moral and ethical considerations. You are required to act responsibly with a firearm.

Whether you actually “carry” a handgun or not you are responsible.

That responsibility starts when you purchase a handgun, rifle or shotgun and keep it in your home.

Sometimes I will hear people say” I don’t need training I have been shooting guns for years” or I will probably never need it anyway.

If you or another person are “accidentally” injured or killed by your actions you are still responsible.

If you “unknowingly” commit a crime or a firearms violation, you are still responsible.

The decision to accept  responsibility starts when you purchase the firearm.

You are responsible to:

Yourself

Others

The significant person's) at home

The people down range of your gunfire

Punching holes in a paper target is only a part of owning a handgun/firearm.

You are required to know ----

How to transport the firearm

How to operate the firearm

How to store the firearm

If others are using safe procedures

Where and under what conditions you and legally “carry” or “transport” a firearm

The legal difference between “carrying” and “transporting” a firearm/handgun

The latest laws and how they apply to you

How to legally and practically “carry” a firearm

How to safely operate in a indoor or outdoor range environment

How to defend yourself or others if necessary
