CPL application Permit application procedure

 

 

 

 The Process-----

The concealed pistol application is processed by your county of residence.

 Step 1. Complete the concealed pistol training course

 We will provide you with the following at the class:

It is not mandatory to get a application packet to attend the class. 

We have all information and forms required.

We will take your picture at the end of the class.

The picture and certificate will be processed at our office the following day.

(2) passport pictures and a certificate of completion will be sent to your address.

 It usually takes about 3 days to receive the certificate and picture. 

If you do not receive it on the 4th day, please call our office 248-844-8274.

 Step 2. Take the following to your county clerk's office:

  • Certificate of completion

  • 2 pictures

  •  State application form

  • $105.00

    Ask the person at the county clerk’s office the following questions.

How will you be notified when the CCW permit is ready to be picked up? (Phone) (Mail)

How long do you expect the application process to take?

Step 3 . The county clerk will send you to the sheriffs department or as directed to have finger prints taken.

Be sure to take proper processing receipt (issued by county clerk) for payment of $105.00 fee with you to the sheriff department for proof of payment.

 Step 4. Under the shall issue provision of the Michigan CPL it is not mandatory to appear before a county gun board.

Some county gun boards still require a the applicant appear in person at a scheduled meeting. The county clerk processing your application will make you aware of a meeting schedule if applicable.
