CPL Range Preparation Course

This course deals directly with preparing the student for the handgun operating and shooting requirements of the concealed pistol range training segment. The student may use their own handgun or ours.

Training procedure

Training consists of classroom and range training. 

The objective of the classroom training time is to prepare the student for the range portion through the use of lecture, demonstrations, video and simulated practice.

 

 Simulated and live fire Shooting practice

 Understand and apply the basic fundamentals of shooting through simulated shooting  techniques before live fire practice.

CPL Range preparation course content:

Goal:

Build a strong shooting foundation by learning and practicing the following skills:

CPL range training and course of fire:

The range course of fire objectives is to develop safe handgun operation and shooting skills through repetitive "building blocks" of core procedures that produce the desired results in the required amount of time. Each shooting segment will build on the previous segment through reparative handgun operating procedures and firing additional shots with each sequence.

Target placed at 15 and 21 ft

50 rounds of ammunition

Procedure:

Load one , fire one

load two, fire two

load three, fire three

load four, fire four

load 6 fire 6

At the end of the building block shooting session the handgun is loaded five times and 16 rounds are fired; each time shooting an additional round of ammunition.  This creates the "building block" procedure of shooting that develops sound handgun operating procedures and shooting skills in a progressive manner.

 

Practice qualification course of fire:

Note: The qualification course of fire meets and exceeds the MCOLES (Michigan State Police) requirements civilian CCW.

Target size:  legal paper 8.5X11

course of fire:  2 sets of 15 rounds (5 rounds fired 3 times) 5x3 

Desired goal:  100% hits on paper
