Organized Presentation

The State of Michigan Concealed Pistol Training Course contains a specific course curriculum.

The following methods are used to assure you have all the material and a complete understanding of the contents.

  • Organized class presentation with time available for questions and answers.

  • Simulated range training in classroom

  • The "classroom in a book".   You will be issued the CPL Study Guide and Reference Manual and handouts at the training class.

  • This manual will allows you to take the class home with you for  future reference.

1. Academic preparation

The HeadStart program is a CPL home study program.  Now you can review all the basic material from the convienece of your own computer. Learn how to prepare and pass the class.

The "HeadStart" program is for those that would like to review the material before the class

The "HeadStart" program is included no extra cost with the pre-purchase of the CCW course.

Head Start Program contains the following topics:

  • CPL Course content review

  • Current laws

  • Sample test

  • Official State of Michigan CPL Training Video

  • Handgun Safety and Shooting Skills Videos

  • Course of fire demonstration 

2.  Shooting skill requirement and Preparation Training

Shooting skill requirement:

  • Demonstrate the ability to operate a handgun

  • Consistent ability to hit a 8.5x11 size sheet of paper at 9ft, 15 and 21 ft.

Shooting skill development training options

  1.  Attend the 3 hour CPL range preparation class and costs schedule- read more

This can be a private class or in a small group.

2.  Attend the CPL training class and receive the training allowed in the time available for the class.

If the shooting skills cannot be achieved in the class range time.

3.  Additional range time - read more can be scheduled.
